Charlene's Chatter

On Tuesday night this week, we welcome Gorleston to The Riverside Stadium, for our first night time home league fixture since February 2024, when we drew 1-1 with Mulbarton. At least we have the new lights in place so we can see what's going on, the old ones were shot to bits and would have failed the required lux level I'm sure. Gorleston are no strangers to Mildenhall, and have been regular visitors over the years for Eastern Counties League and the odd cup fixture. They have always been a team that plays good football, and they now enter their third season in the Isthmian League North, after two solid seasons previously, finishing 13th and then 10th. Currently the club play their home fixtures at Great Yarmouth Towns famous Wellesely Ground following a stint at Lowestoft's Crown Meadow. They have got off to a decent start this season with 3 wins under their belt already, so we are expecting another tough one this time round. I know all this because I have done my research on the internet. Bill is doing my head in on Saturdays, and last Saturday he went to Wolverhampton races, missing the football due to his ban. Speaking of bans, our new signing, Max Kirkby will get a short spell on the side lines after collecting a second yellow/red on his debut against Brightlingsea Regent. Its all league action now (except a Suffolk Premier Cup fixture away at Felixstowe), so we need to start gathering some points between now and Christmas. I hope you all enjoy the match, and I hope Mildenhall come away with something from the game, as Bill needs cheering up now. Football is only a game, I know, and there are far more important things in life like friends and family, but Mildenhall Town is a family too. We are all connected by the club, and frankly, can you imagine what life would be like without that? We have the stadium (well its a ground really) which is our home, so lets get behind Phil and the boys, and lets get this party started... Well maybe that is a bit premature, but you know what I mean.
