Mildenhall started the game with the ball and despite an early chance for Witham both teams
started fairly equal. Witham had had some better chances in the box however nothing came
of it and Mildenhall were great at getting free/goal kicks. Mildenhall played well on the wings
in the first half and looked more likely to get the first goal. Mildenhall had a good early
chance in front of an open goal but the players took too long to get the shot away and the
chance was gone. The deadlock was broken in the 42nd minute when Chipps scored the
first goal of the game, Ryan Swift hit the bar and Chipps was quick to it and headed it in. The
teams went in at half time 1-0 to Mildenhall.
The second half started like the first with both teams equal again although Mildenhall had
claims for a penalty when one of their players got pushed down in the box by the opposition,
however nothing came of this. Witham were determined to get a goal back but Mildenhall’s
defence made sure nothing came of it. Mildenhall were good on the counter attack and when
passing the ball upfield. Despite Mildenhall playing well Witham grew more and more into
the game, with a ball off the crossbar in the 66th minute and a close shot on goal in the 76th
minute. Witham’s work for a goal finally paid off when Deese Kasinga Madia scored in the
79th minute, they had received a free kick close to the corner flag which was crossed to him
next to the goal and headed in. After the goal was scored both teams lost their heads a bit
and one player for Witham made a nasty tackle on Jed Wigley but there was no red card.
Mildenhall had another chance on goal from a cross but it was ultimately shot over the top of
the goal. Witham didn’t have to wait long for another goal and it came in the 86th minute
from Mildenhall player Joshua Collins, the ball was passed near post and instead of kicking it
away Collins accidentally shot the ball in the net. In the last minutes of the game Collins
received a red card for a slide tackle on the edge of the box. The game ends 2-1 to Witham
Town.
