Under 14 update.
Today the under 14s travelled to Haddenham. A team we have faced several times over the years and always know we are in for a tough ride.
The wind was a major factor from the off and we spoke about playing the conditions before the game.
We started brightly playing some nice football on a tricky pitch. We scored early on, good work from Ollie wells found Harry winstone who cleverly flicked the ball in the path of Andy Ncube who slotted home.
Haddenham were very direct with long throws and long balls into our box, we defended them very well, however Haddenham scored from a corner just before half time.
We had the wind on our side second half and started brightly, looking for a second goal. Both teams were battling against the conditions and giving there all. Mildenhall made the breakthrough when some quick feet in the box from Andy Ncube enticed the defender to bring him down for a penalty kick.
Ethan Dixon stepped up to fire us into the lead.
Great work from our back five of Sam Kempa, Leo Gamzoo, Sean Doyle, Harry Tonge and Dawid Kurcon kept Haddenham at bay, and we earned a well deserved victory against an inform team.
We spoke about digging deep in difficult conditions and sometimes winning ugly. We done enough to get over the line.
Special mention to our MOM Max Rutter for his hard battling and quality in the middle of the pitch.
Well played lads!
